Farris "F.O." Bailey, 91, of Anderson, SC passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, in Anderson, SC.
F.O. Bailey was born in Hartwell, GA, to W.H. Bailey and Myrtis Bailey on June 4, 1924. He graduated from Boys High School in Anderson, SC.
He worked as an insurance inspector for Retail Credit/ Equifax for 40 years. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Air Corps and was awarded several medals. He was on the school board for Oakwood Christian School and served as a deacon for 50 years. He also taught Sunday School over 40 years at Oakwood and was superintendent of Sunday School for several years and was a member of the choir.
F.O. is survived by his wife of 69 years, Ruby Nell Bailey; his son, Farris O. Bailey, Jr. and his wife Ann of Anderson; his daughter Marie Bailey Parker and her husband Chuck of Anderson; his sister, Eleanor Grant of Anderson; two grandchildren, Chad Parker and his wife Whitney of Kingsport, TN and Keith Parker and his wife Nancy of Kingsport, TN; and three great-grandchildren, Addison Parker, Landon Parker, and Aiden Parker of Kingsport, TN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Eber, Denver, Sid, and Gerald Bailey; and sisters, Lessie Powell, Cora Ayers, Ruby Vickery, Clara Bell Wilson, and Judy Wilson.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 19, 2015, at Oakwood Baptist Church, with Reverend Jeff Bartlett and Reverend Gordy Craft officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 18, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at The McDougald Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to F.O. Bailey Scholarship Fund of Oakwood Baptist Church, 304 Pearman Dairy Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
