We found that John Luddy, son of Jeremiah, married Honora Barlow on 23.02.1854 in Galbally R C Church. Witnesses were Charles Bailey and Bridget Costello. A bride traditionally married in her own county and I checked Griffith's Valuation for an entry for a Barlow in that parish. I found that an Arthur Barlow also held land at Spittle.

John Luddy died on 24.02.1877. A 47 year old farmer, cause of death was pnuemonia and the inf ormant was Jeremiah O'Neill. As place of burial was not stated on death records, it is usually assumed that this would take place in the local churchyard, as was traditional. We have a record of gravestone inscriptions of Kilbehenny, with entries for Luddy, but not for John.

John Luddy was born in 1830. John Luddy married Honora Barlow February 12, 1854 in the Parish of Galbally, County of Limerick. John and Hanora's witnesses were Charles Baily and Bridget Costello. They lived with John's mother Bridget and ran a dairy farm of about 64 acres. The farm was located in the Townland of Spittle, Parish of Ballylanders, County of Limerick. John died 23 Dec. 1877 in Spittle. After John's death Honora ran the farm with the help of her children.

Four years after John's death Honora immigrated to the United States. The family Embarked from Queenstown on the Steamship Celtic. They arrived in New York 13 June 1881. After clearing immigrations Honorah and 12 children(@ children immigrating with Hanora) traveled to Waterbury Conn. where they stayed for a short time with John Luddy's brother. Honora then had a house built at the corner of Charles and Third Street in the Brooklyn section of Waterbury, Ct. Hanora lived in that house with her children until she died 15 Dec.1915. John and Honora had 17 children.

John is listed on the tomb stone in New St. Joseph's Cem, Waterbury, Ct. though he is not burried there.
