Nathan Adams was the great-great grandson of William & Susannah Martin Adams who migrated to Yadkin County in the late 1700s. He married Etta Jane Collins on April 17, 1898 and they raised 10 children in Yadkin County: Billy, Nina, Asa, Ora, Mary Jane, Thomas, John Alvin, Mark, Marvin, and Zeno. Two daughters, Laura Elizabeth (March 1901) and Minnie Effie (July 1912), died in infancy.
Nathan was an elder in the Deep Creek Friends Meeting for 18 years. He and Etta were third and fourth cousins (once removed), both being descended from John Martin & Margaret Hadley and also from Daniel Huff & Mary Worley.
Nathan preceded his wife in death, on July 19, 1942, and they are buried together at the cemetery of the Deep Creek Friends Meeting House in Yadkin County, North Carolina.
