George was the fourth of six children born to Hezekiah More and Mary Harriet Alverson More. He was raised at Walton, New York where his father was a farmer. George married to Myra Buckingham on 10 June 1891. They made their home first at Boise City, Idaho where George was a lumber man at a saw mill. The family relocated to Wallingford, Connecticut by 1900 where George was a farmer. Some time between 1902 and 1908 the family relocated to Kalispell, Montana where George was a lumber piler at a lumber yard. George and Myra divorced in 1908. They were the parents of two sons, Harold Buckingham More and Paul Clifford More.
