Mary was the daughter of Thomas Alverson and Elizabeth B. Fitch Alverson. She was raised at Walton where, presumably, her father was a farmer. Mary married to Hezekiah More on 13 October 1851 at Walton. They lived their first years of married life on a farm on East Brook. In 1866, they moved to the Alverson homestead at Beerston, a community in the Town of Walton, where her husband was a prominent farmer. Mary and Hezekiah were the parents of six children; Elizabeth Gould More, Harriet Eliza More, Mary Frances More, George T. More, Edwin Gould More, and Lewis Cone More.
