To this union was born eight children - William Jasper, Betty, Mary Ann (Dodson), Ira Emmett, John Yeargin, Louie Leona (Money), James Thomas, and Nancy Myrtle (Fanning).
After her husband was killed by lightening in 1908, Vina was left with several young children to care for on her own. In 1916, several neighbors were sick with pneumonia; and Vina waded deep snow going house to house caring for her neighbors. She developed pneumonia herself, and died February 8, 1916.
