Amasa was the son of Claude and Ada (Cresse) Young. He was born in Erma, NJ then moved to Millville, NJ. His nickname was pronounced Ammie. He eloped with Mable Wriggins to Elkton, MD on June 2, 1919. According to the 1920 census Amasa and Mabel were renting at Amasa'a brother, Frank's, house in Millville, NJ. Both were lamp workers making vials. They had 10 children: Ada, Myrtle, Ida, Elva, Kenneth, Hobart, Virginia, Edward, Donald and Janice. During his career he worked as a feed salesman, car salesman, barber, horse owner, paperhanger, painter, lay preacher and building contractor. He built and operated Young's Motel on Rio Grande Blvd. and operated the Corbin Diner in Corbin City. He died on Beesleys Point Beach while fishing.
