Services were held Wednesday in the Erickson Funeral Home in Traer for Dale W. Nation, 48, of Garwin, formerly of the Traer community, who died Sunday in Evangelical hospital in Marshalltown. The Rev. G. E. MacCanon, pastor of the Garwin Evangelical United Brethren church, officiated. Music was provided by Mrs. Leland Sealock, organist, and Mrs. Arthur Calderwood, soloist. Floral attendants were Mr. and Mrs. David Wilson and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Logan. Casket bearers were Ed Stamp, Alfred Niedermann, Gerald Hall, Raymond Wrede, O. L. Dixon and William Jensen Military rites were conducted by Wm. Saunders Post of the American Legion at Garwin. Interment was in Buckingham Cemetery.

Dale Wilber Nation, son of Walter and Bessie Nation, was born near La Porte City on March 11, 1914. Most of his life was spent in the La Porte City, Geneseo, Dike, Hudson and Traer communities. He attended the Geneseo elementary school and was graduated from Hudson high school. He served withthe Army overseas during World War II, attaining the rank of technical sergeant. A bachelor, he lived with his parents, who farmed west of Traer for several years on the place now operated by Will Lass.
When they retired in Garwin in 1955, he also retired because of ill health. He continued to make his home with his parents. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bryce, who died at age 17, and his father, who died January 13 at the age of 84. Survivors include his mother. Mrs. Walter Nation of Garwin, three brothers. Archie Nation of Garwin, Donald Nation of Marshalltown and Roger Nation of Traer, and three sisters, Mrs. Leland Philp, Traer; Mrs. Henry Johannsen, La Porte City; and Mrs. Elliott Smith, Hudson.
