The Bear Paw Mountaineer, Big Sandy, Mont., 5 March 1913
Brende Child Laid to Rest
Among the saddest stories the Mountaineer has ever been called upon to chronicle is the death of Odmar Irving Brende, the nine-months-old child of Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Brende, who died at the home of his parents in the Elderman addition last Saturday morning. Death was caused by an acute attack of bronchial trouble. The child had been suffering with a light cold for several days and because it showed no signs of serious illness the parents were not alarmed but early Sunday morning, a choking fit, caused, it is thought, by the accumulation in the throat, caused the little life to ebb out before a doctor could be summoned.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the Lyons hall, and interment made in the local cemetery.
