Age 53 years. In the fall of 1861, J. J. Kline was appointed receiver of the Confederate States for the following parishes: Caddo, De Soto, Sabine, Bossier, Claiborne [which included what is now Webster Parish] and Bienville based out of Shreveport, office branch of Citizens' Bank.

...J. J. Kline, C. S. Receiver, stopped the sale of a large quantity of powder, as it was the property of Dupont, of Delaware, an alien enemy.
