NECROLOGICAL.

Mrs. Clara B. Ford.

The sad news reached Shreveport yesterday of the death at Seattle, Wash., of Mrs. Clara B. Ford, wife of the late W. P. Ford of this city and a member of one of the most prominent families in the state. Mrs. Ford's death came was a shock to her friends here, although it is understood that she had been ill for some time previous to her death. The remains will leave Seattle today for Shreveport, where the interment will take place. Notice of the funeral from St. Mark's Episcopal church, this city, will be given later.

Shreveport, La.

There was a beautiful burial service on Wednesday afternoon at St. Mark's Episcopal Church held over the remains of Mrs. Clara B. Ford, who died at her home in Seattle, Wn., on last Saturday. Rev. Joseph H. Spearing and the choir boys [St. Mark's had an impressive boys choir at the time.], the latter bearing a golden cross and singing "What are these that are arrayed in white wings.?" preceded the pallbearers and the casket covered with lillies and roses to the altar. As the young voices were heard there was not a dry eye in the church. The pallbearers were: Messrs. Black, Hamilton, Sid Kerley, Conway Moncure, Tom Barret, Will Seay, Charles Randall, Leon Smith and Fred V. Gard. Mrs. Ford was of a prominent North Louisiana family, the daughter of the late John Jackson Kline, and niece of the late Judge Roland Jones. She was the cherished wife of W. Penn Ford, whose death fourteen years ago caused the loss of one of Shreveport's most enterprising citizens. Of the family there are now only left her sister, Mrs. Mattie Ford; brother Jack Kline, and her two sons Edwin and Bickham Ford. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Ford accompanied the remains to this city. Mrs. Ford was one of the most beautiful and charming women ever known. She was a devoted member of the Episcopal Church, and lived by its teachings. In the old cemetery where lie her parents and husband she was laid to rest, and above her grave was a mantle of spring's most fragrant blossoms. The bereaved family are extended deepest sympathy.
