Mary Irene Gove, daughter of Spencer E. and Mary D. (Sutton) Gove was born in Fulton, Rock County, WI on January 1, 1871. Her schooling was received in Rock county where she grew to womanhood. On October 19, 1892 she was united in marriage to Earl C. Cobb near Edgerton. After a year at Colby, WI the family moved to Sun Prairie, where the home has been since. Seven children were born; Elsie, Gladys, Madge, Martha, Mary, Rollin, and Vernon; who besides a devoted husband; three brothers; and two sisters survive to cherish her memory; namely, Vernon S. Gove of Madison, Hubert C. Gove of Joliet, IL, Charles W. Gove of Springfield, MO, Mrs. Guy Olin of Sun Prairie and Mrs. E. E. Cole of Chicago. Mrs. Cobb united with the M. E. Church at Edgerton early in life, was a member of the Ladies Aid, and was always active in church life. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Twentieth Century Club, was actively interested in the better things of life, and was a thorough Christian woman, unselfish and devoted to her home and family. Her reserved manner and quiet demeanor may have kept in hiding the true worth of her influence in life, but in death these virtues stand forth as memoirs to perpetuate the memory of a true Christian character. The remains of Mrs. Cobb were brought to the home here Sunday afternoon and the funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the M. E. Church, Rev. H. H. Richardson officiating. The church was completely filled with relatives and friends who came to offer a last tribute of respect to the memory of the deceased. The members of Twilight Chapter, O.E.S. attended in a body. The floral tributes were profuse and beautiful and bore mute testimony of love for the departed and sympathy for the dear ones who mourn. Interment was in the village cemetery. Those from out of town who attended the funeral are Hubert Gove of Joliet, IL, Mrs. E. E. Cole of Chicago, Vernon Gove and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kocher, Miss Grace Bailey and Ernest Bailey, Mr. and Mrs. S. T. Burgess, and H. L. Thompson of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Gibbons of Cottage Grove, Miss Vera Sutton, Harvey Raymond and A. S. Flagg of Edgerton.
