Elsie I. Mitchell, 76, Punxsutawney, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. She was born in Punxsutawney Feb. 3, 1931, a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Heberling) Barnett.
July 1, 1957, Mrs. Mitchell married Robert S. Mitchell, who survives.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband, surviving relatives include four sons, Kenneth "Bud" Limrick and wife Barb of Ohl, Mark Mitchell of Warren, Dan Mitchell and wife Sue of Punxsutawney and Robert S. Mitchell Jr. of San Diego, Ca.; four daughters, Janet Eicks and husband Fred of Indianapolis, Ind., Susan McCoy and husband Bob of Punxsutawney, Paula Shick and husband Allen of East Stroudsburg and Stacey Domino and husband Terry of Punxsutawney; a brother, Clarence Barnett of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; six sisters, Daisy Reed of Albuquerque, N.M., Evelyn Price of Wadestown, W.Va., Sarah Lyons of Syracuse, N.Y., Grace Plyler of Somerville, Mary Porcasio of Niagara Falls, N.Y. and Sharon Roberts of Mononera, W.Va.; 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Bill Barnett; and two sisters, Rita and Gladys.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at the McCabe Funeral Home, Punxsutawney.
A religious service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, at the funeral home with Pastor Al Kimmell officiating.
Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery, Frostburg.
