She was born in North Adams on February 25, 1920, daughter of Herbert and Eva Chalifoux Blake. She attended North Adams schools.
Florence was employed at Berkshire Fine Spinning and the Gale Shoe Co. She was last employed at North Adams Regional Hospital in the Pediatrics Department.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams. Florence was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Post #996 VFW and the Disabled American Veteran's. She was an excellent piano player and gave lessons. She was also a member of "The Diamonds" band.
She was the widow of Donald Edward Courtot, who died June 1, 2004. They were married on August 5, 1938.
Survivors include one son, Charles H. Courtot of Pinellas Park, Florida; one daughter, Joanne Courtot of North Adams; four grandchildren, Donald J. Courtot, Gregory Courtot, Alexandra Courtot, and Antonio DeGrenier; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four sisters, Lena Nolli of Pittsfield, Doris Haley, Judith Columbus, and Carol Harris of Pownal, Vermont; one brother, Herbert E. Blake Jr. of North Adams; many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. A son, Donald Courtot Jr., died in 1965. A grandson, Steven DeGrenier, is deceased and four sisters and one brother are deceased including Anna Cook, Shirley Jones, Celia Blake, Eva Pratt, and Donald Blake.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in St. John's Episcopal Church in North Adams.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
