Shirley June Jones 1934 - 2008 BENNINGTON Shirley June Jones, 74, of Evergreen Drive died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center. Born in North Adams, Mass., on June 11, 1934, the daughter of Herbert and Eva Chalifioux Blake, she attended North Adams schools and Oak Hill School in Pownal. Shirley enjoyed taking care of her home and cherished times spent with her family. She liked baking, cooking, deer hunting and fishing. Shirley enjoyed visiting Indian Reservations and loved writing poetry and music, some of which have been published, and winning achievement awards. She leaves her husband, Dewey Jones Sr., whom she married at the Pownal Congregational Church on Jan. 23, 1951. Besides her husband, she leaves her son Dewey Jones Jr. and his wife, Marie, of Bennington; her daughters, Diane Phelps and her husband, Richard, of Plainfield, Mass., Cynthia Hasbany and her husband, Robert, of Michigan, Anne Marie Miller and her husband, Ralph, of North Adams, Sandra Martin and her husband, Thomas, of North Adams, Susan Bouldry and her husband, Harry, of Florida, Wanda Jones of Bennington, Julie Church and her husband, Andy, of North Adams, and June Sumner and her husband, John, of Bennington; her brother, Herbert Blake of North Adams; her sisters, Lena Nolli, Florence Covrtot, Judy Columbus, Carol Harris and Doris Haley; 25 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Celia, Eva and Anna, and by her brother, Donald. FUNERAL NOTICE: At the request of the family, funeral services will be private. There will be no calling hours.
