May Cox was born at Leonardville Kansas, May 2nd, 1891, and departed this life at her home in Kansas City, Kansas, March 23, 1909, at 7:43 A.M., aged seventeen years, ten months and twenty one days.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cox, parents of the deceased, formerly lived in this vicinity, moving to Kansas City about four years ago.
The deceased had been sick about 5 months, during which time she was a patient sufferer. She knew her time had come and was ready to meet the call. She said she could see the angels beckoning to her. She told them she would be with them tomorrow. She told her parents they had done all they could for her; calling her sisters and brothers, she bid them all good-bye. She was an employee at the Mitchell Dry Goods Store at Kansas City up to until the time of her sickness, loved by all who knew her.
The remains were brought here from Kansas City, Wednesday. Funeral was held at the Christian Church, Thursday at 10 o'clock A.M., conducted by Rev. D.N. Rose of Corning. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery. The deceased leaves a father, mother, three sisters, four brothers, other relatives and a host of friends to mourn her loss.
