Son of Elder David Price Thomas, Sr. and Talitha Isabel Ingram, "Dave" and his twin sister, Talitha Isabel (Tal), were the 12th and 13th of the Thomas children. They were born three years after a previous set of twins. Dave & Tal's siblings were:

Garland Ingram (Garl) Thomas
Solomon Alexander (Dud) Thomas
Eliza Hanover Thomas Ross Ratliff
Melinda Jane Thomas Ross
Henderson Wheat Thomas
Sanford Nelson (Tamp) Thomas
George Turner Thomas
Elizabeth (Betty) Thomas Bell
Serena Ellen Thomas Henderson Baker
Claborn Hobbs (Cabe) Thomas
Davey Grey Thomas
David Price (Dave) Thomas, Jr.
Talitha Isabel (Tal) Thomas Bachel

Dave grew to manhood in Young County, Texas. He worked on the Southern Pacific Railroad in Texas and Old Mexico for a time. He married his sweetheart, Rebecca Lee Vance, on January 15, 1885 in Young County, Texas. To this union, five children were born: Cleaburn George (Clebe), Barney Grover, Maggie Louetta, James Cecil, and Crawford Patton (Crawf/Red). On leaving Young County by covered wagon and driving their herd of cattle, they moved to King County where they lived awhile and worked on the King Ranch. From there, they headed for the high plains country in and around Amarillo, Texas. Looking around for a farm and finding nothing suitable, they came to Panhandle, Texas and camped for a week in a flat at the head of the north Fork of the Red River. Some of the family liked it there and some were dissatisfied, so they traveled on and came to the home of Dave's sister, Mrs. Gardner Ross and her family, where they spent a week visiting and looking for a place to settle in Beckham County. In 1902 a deal was made with Jim Beck to buy a farm located five miles south of Carter where three more children were born: Milton Tony in 1904, Flossie Talitha in 1906, and an infant daughter in 1908 who died soon thereafter. The family remained at the farm until Dave and Rebecca's deaths in 1932 and 1933, respectively. They are buried in Spring Creek Cemetery.
