Atlanta - Mamie Cannady Aycock, 90, died late Friday at Star Crest Nursing Home in Lithonia, after a long illness. The Bulloch County native had lived many years in Savannah, where she was an LPN nurse at the old Telfair Hospital. She moved to Atlanta in 1960 where she began working for Piedmont Hospital as a nurse in the premature nursery. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Iris A. Hamilton, Chamblee; two sons, William L. Aycock Jr., Savannah, and Gilbert C. Aycock, Birmingham, Ala.; one sister, Fannie Cannady, Lithonia; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Old Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.
