William "Bill" Lucian Aycock, Jr. - SAVANNAH - William "Bill" Lucian Aycock, Jr., 82, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Phyllis Chase Farrell Aycock, died Monday evening, January 9, 2012, at Hospice Savannah surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklet, Georgia, and living most of his life in Savannah, he was a son of the late William Lucian Aycock and the late Mamie Zella Cannady Aycock. Mr. Aycock was a former member of Bull Street Baptist Church and attended St. James Catholic Church. He was educated in the Brooklet and Savannah schools and attended Armstrong College. Mr. Aycock was a United States Army veteran having served as a Sergeant First Class during the Korean Conflict. He retired after 36 years as a crew dispatcher with the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, which is now CSX. Mr. Aycock was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks - Savannah Chapter 183, the American Legion Post 135 for many years, and the Savannah Navy League. He loved to dance, travel, watch sports (especially football), and was a daily walker at Oglethorpe Mall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Lilly Aycock, his second wife, Vera Whitcomb Aycock, and a step-son, John James "Jay" Farrell III. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Chase Farrell Aycock of Savannah, Georgia; three daughters, Ann Seckinger and her husband, John, of Savannah, Georgia, Emily Wittig and her husband, Dale, of Manassas, Virginia, and Louise Youmans and her husband, Sam, of Hardeeville, South Carolina; one step-daughter, Maureen Eason and her husband, Bob, of Savannah, Georgia; two step-sons, Patrick K. Farrell and his wife, Sherry, of Savannah, Georgia, and Timothy D. Farrell and his wife, Lori, of Cumming, Georgia; one sister, Iris Hamilton and her husband, Bob, of Cumming, Georgia; one brother, Gilbert Aycock and his wife, Gwen, of Birmingham, Alabama; five grandchildren, Lee Seckinger, Brenton Seckinger, Abigail Wittig, Dane Winston Wittig and Michael Bishara; seven step-grandchildren, Emmett Eason, John Patrick Farrell, Chase Farrell, Nicholas Robinson and his wife, Courtney, Morgan Farrell, Lauren Farrell and Carson Farrell; two step-great-grandchildren, Chandler Robinson and Jacey Robinson, and his nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning at St. James Catholic Church conducted by Father Mark J. Ross. Interment, with full military honors, will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Lee, Vernon Smart, Pat Farrell, Tim Farrell and Emmett Eason. Active pallbearers will be Dale Wittig, John Seckinger, Sam Youmans, Dane Winston Wittig, Lee Seckinger, Brenton Seckinger and Michael Bishara.
