Margaret Louise Wood Grogan Doty, 85, of Rustburg, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2005, at Virginia Baptist Hospital.Born May 17, 1920, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Jake Carl Wood and the late Mary Ruth Webber Wood. Louise was a member of Park View United Methodist Church and had attended First Assembly of God Church. She was a 53 year member of the Lynchburg Chapter 54 O.E.S., a member of the Nobletts, the Scottish Rite Woman's Club, Valley of Lynchburg and the Woodmen of the World Auxilary. She had been employed at Forest Elementary School, General Electric, J. Crew and Nationwide Insurance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Russell Blain Grogan; and second, husband Lorne Henry Doty; and by a brother, Jake Carl Wood Jr. She is survived by four daughters, Charlotte Anne Bailey of Charlottesville, Claudia Ruth Guthrie and close friend, Sherman Wheeler of Stuartsville, Kitty Massie and husband, Dallas W. of Pedler Mills, and Margaret Lawhorn and husband, Robert of Rustburg; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Godsey of Lynchburg; one brother, Melvin L. Wood and wife, Doris of Lynchburg; two sisters-in-law, Lavonia Wood of Richmond and Annie Witt and husband, Alvin of Evington; one brother-in-law, Jack Phillips of Evington; as well as several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2005, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by Pastor Rodney T. Mason. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
An Eastern Star service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. today, with family visitation to follow from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
