Frances Wood Godsey, 88, of Lynchburg, passed Friday, July 6, 2007, at Medical Care Center. She was the wife of the late Lenwood Taylor Godsey Sr. Born April 1, 1919, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Jake Carl Wood and the late Ruth Webber Wood. She was a member of Park View United Methodist Church and had retired from Randolph-Macon Woman's College after 24 years of employment. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jake Carl Wood Jr. and Melvin Wood; and one sister, Margaret Louise Doty. She is survived by, one daughter, Shirley C. Wooldridge and husband, William, of Lynchburg; four step-children, Joyce G. Ross and husband, Charles, of Vinton, Gloria G. "Bootie" Robertson and husband, Lefty, of Lynchburg, Lenwood T. Godsey Jr. and wife, Sue, of Madison Heights, and Donnie Godsey of Burlington, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2007, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel by Mark Wilkerson and the Rev. Phil Showers. Family visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Teresa, 1091 Middleview Drive, Forest.
