Lenwood Taylor Godsey, Sr., 86, of 1010 North Grand Ave., died at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 1989 in Guggenheimer Nursing Home, after a long illness. He was the husband of Frances Wood Godsey. His first wife was the late Kathleen Grace Godsey. He was born in Appomattox, Oct. 19, 1903, son of the late Luther Hubert Godsey and Elma Giles Godsey. He was a projectionist for Lynchburg Theaters for more than 60 years and was a member of Park View United Methodist Church. He was a member of I.A.T.S.E. Local, where he had formerly served as secretary and treasurer, and Lynchburg Buck Hunt Club in Buckingham County. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce G. Ross and Charles D. Ross, Vinton, Gloria G. (Bootie Robertson and Calvin E. (Lefty) Robertson, of Lynchburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lenwood T. Godsey, Jr., and Sue F. Godsey, Prinston, W. VA., and Donald J. Godsey and Susan H. Godsey, Lynchburg, a stepdaughter, Shirley C. Wooldridge and her husband, Herbert of Lynchburg, three sisters, Delphia Godsey, Phyllis G. Thompson and Avis G. Gilbert all of Appomattox; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Park View United Methodsit church by the Rev. John M. Andrews, with burial in Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Whitten Timberlake Chapel and at other times at the residence.
