Obituary
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Ulysse Savoie, 76, who passed away at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetary in Carencro, Louisiana.

The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau, godchild of Mr. Savoie and pastor of St. Edmonds Catholic Church in Lake Charles, officiated at the services.

Musical selections was provided by Phyllis Simar on the organ. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace", "How Great Thou Art" and "I Will Not Forget You".

Ulysse Savoie was a native of Cankton and a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having servied during the Korean War.

Survivors include two sons, Harold J. Savoie and Ricky Richard, both of Lafayette; two daughters, Jo Ann Poe and her husband, Donald G., and Ella Jane Jacqueneaux, all of Lafayette, one sister, Louise Savoie Boudreaux of Cankton; three grandchildren, Marianna Alesi, Dawn Henry and Andrew Poe; and three great-grandchildren, Hailey Savoy, Quinton Savoy and Trey Henry.

He was preceded in death by his wife Amethilde Forestier Savoie; his parents, Eddie Savoie and the former Bella Semar; one brother, Jeston G. Savoie; and two sisters, Edise Savoie LeBlanc and Theresa Savoie Guilbeau.

Pallbearers were Harold Savoie, Don Poe, Ricky Richard, Andrew Poe and Gerald Forestier.

Melancon Funeral Home of Carencro was in charge of arrangements.
