HENRY B STRAW DIES SUDDENLY AT HIS HOME AT COUNCIL BLUFFS - WAS FORMER RESIDENT
The remains of Henry B. Straw of Council Bluffs, Iowa, but a former resident of this city, were brought here today from that place for burial. The remains will be held at Karstens and Patterson's undertaking parlor until tomorrow when the funeral services will be held at Memorial Hall and under the direction of William Baumer Post, GAR.
The deceased has been in failing health for sometime and early Sunday morning he was heard to make a noise and his family went to his bedroom and found him dead, his death evidently being due to heart failure. He was born in Maine, 13 Aug 1842 and when young went to Wisconsin and there joined a company of soldiers and served in the Civil War. He was married in Sept 1860. In 1886 he moved to this city from Hamburg, where they had been making their home for some time and made their home for years at this place and then moved to Council Bluffs where they have since resided. His wife died 6 January 1900. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Harriet Hartley Nebraska City; George Straw in Northern Wyoming; Enoch Straw in Minnesota; Harry Straw this city; Fred Straw, Peru; Richard and Bert Straw, Scotts Bluff and Reuben Straw, Council Bluffs.
Burial: Wyuka Cemetery, Nebraska City, Nebraska.
