Although Charles death certificate said he was born in Lexington, his family said he was born in Bath County, Kentucky.

He married Josephine Owen, Josie, in Paola, Miami County, Kansas on Dec 31, 1885. They had two sons, Owen Ruben born Apr 24, 1887 in Paola and Richard Aaron, born Oct 12, 1888 in Merwin, Missouri. Josie died soon after Richard's birth.

Charles then married Rhoda Hackett on Jan 22, 1890 in Miami County, Kansas and they had 4 children: Fred, Myrtle, Nellie, and Raymond. Charles was a farmer.
