Aaron Saunders Lee was the sixth child of Joseph Lee and Abigail Mappin. Aaron was born in Morehead, Fleming County,(later Rowan Co.) Kentucky, and died in Iola, Allen County, Kansas. He married Mary Jane Jones on 27 Jan 1858 in Bath County, Kentucky. They had eight children: Charles, Lene Dellah, Anna M., James L., Newton Jasper, William, and Mary. Aaron S. Lee served during the Civil War in the following regiments: Co. A, 7th KY Vol. Cav., Union Army as a 1st Lt. and in Co. I, 40th KY Vol. Inf., Union Army as a Pvt.
