Mrs. Davis Rites

ELKTON - The funeral for Mrs. Gertrude Williams Davis, 77, of Rt. 2, Elkton will be conducted 2 p.m. today at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church by the Rev. K. K. Watkins and the Rev. Benjamin Cubbage. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Davis died Friday evening at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.

She lived her entire life in the Bryant Hollow community.

She was a member of the Mt. Sinai Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess and choir member. She had taught Sunday school at the church more than 30 years and was a mother of the Willing Workers Club.

On May 28, 1918 she married Jasper J. Davis, who died Sept. 8, 1968.

Surviving are nine daughters, Mrs. Evangline Butler of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Ruth Davis, Mrs. Meldora Williams, Mrs. Carena Moore, Mrs. Irene Carter, Mrs. Maggie Allen, Mrs. Jurline Jackson and Mrs. Dorotha Sanders, All of Elkton, and Mrs. Annie Mae McKeithan of Island Ford; three sons, Matthew Russell and Robert R. Davis, all of Elkton; 47 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.
