Son of John Yarborough (1817-1905) and Sarah Ann Pearson Yarborough [1832-1878], husband of Fannie Willie (Fannie) Warren Webb Yarborough (1860-1896) and Julia Breeden Yarborough (1875-1951), C. J. or "Joe" was father to 16 children, 10 with his first wife Fannie Willie Warren and 6 with his second wife Julia Breeden. He married Fannie 26 Sept. 1878 in Greensburg, LA and Julia on 29 Sept. 1900.

He was a well-known farmer in St. Helena Parish, LA, and long-term St. Helena Parish Sheriff in Greensburg. He lived the last 20 years of his life in Kentwood, LA. His obituary appeared in the McComb MS Enterprise Journal on Jan. 26, 1945, because his son Thomas Walter lived in McComb with his own family. The broken fragments of his tombstone lie at the foot of his infant son's grave in Day's United Methodist Church Cemetery near Liverpool LA (see image). He was a farmer primarily but also Sheriff of St. Helena Parish, LA (in Greensburg) for many years. His first wife Fannie was a young widow with an infant, Oscar Webb, when they married and C. J. adopted Fannie's young child and raised him with his own growing family.

Two conflicting marriage records exist for Charles Joseph Yarborough and his second wife Julia Breeden. One indicates they wed on 15 Nov. 1898 in Washington Parish, LA and the other says the marriage occurred 29 Sept 1900 in St. Helena Parish, LA. In the first she is called "Julia Breadin" and in the second "Mrs. Julia Wright."

It appears that the couple married twice. Julia married her first husband, Wright, before 1898. She married C. J Yarborough under her maiden name. Her first marriage may have not been properly annulled, so a divorce was obtained before the second marriage, in which she is called "Mrs. Julia Wright."

Charles appears to have been buried in Day's Methodist Church graveyard in Liverpool next to his first wife Fannie Willie Warren but he has a later-made memorial stone in Woodland Cemetery in Kentwood (see image) which misspells his last name (see image). His second wife Julia Breeden is buried near this newer stone in Woodland Cemetery.
