C, 97th Pennsylvania Infantry. Hospitalized September 20, 1862, with "chills" and "chronic diarrhea" at the medical facility on Hilton Head Island, North Carolina, he discharged by surgeon's certificate January 3, 1863 (January 1 also reported). Information is strangely lacking on the company register.
He married Achsma or Achsha Kohler in 1870 and fathered Harry Chester (b. 11/22/74) and Arthur Robert (b. 01/15/81). By no later than 1874, he was living in York County. Achsha died in 1903, and he married Maine-born Jessie L. Worcester, née Hobson.
