Allen Henderson "Henry" Dixon, son of Hilliard Dixon and Eliza Cooper-Dixon. Grandson of Matthew Dixon 1776-1872. He was a brother to Thomas J., William C., John C. "Eps", Benjamin F., Samuel W., Sallie, and Frances M., "Fannie" Dixon-Thompson. Henry married late in life to Mary Jane Taylor, they had no children. Mary Jane died first. "Henry" was a Confederate soldier who was wounded at the Battle of Chicamauga. After the Civil War he became a hotel clerk at Batesville. While there he wrote a history of the "Bloody Seventh", that is, Seventh Arkansas Regiment made up of 10 companies of 100 men mostly from Mill Creek, Izard Co., and surrounding area. At the end of the war he wrote that there were not enough survivors to make up a single company of men. He returned to Izard county from Batesville and lived his remaining years with his nephew Gus Dixon. According to the Dixon family book, he died in 1894. May he rest in peace.
