John Calvin Dixon was the son of Hilliard Dixon and Eliza Cooper. And he was the grandson of the family patriarch, Matthew Dixon 1776-1872, and Polly Hill-Dixon. John C. was born March 21, 1831. He married Elizabeth C. Gentry, born July 11, 1836. They were the parents of Samuel H., Wm. R., Eliza Jane (Wayland, of Oklahoma), Benjamin F., Mary M., Robert Lee, John Franklin, Thomas B., and Sarah A. Trimble Cemetery information states that John Dixon was known as Epps, and was the son of Hilliard Dixon and Eliza Cooper. John Dixon married Elizabeth C. Gentry on September 8, 1859. Their daughter, Sarah, married Rev. D. R. Robertson. John C. Died Feb. 11, 1885, on his farm in Iuka. Elizabeth died April 30, 1890. May they rest in peace.
