Son of Hilliard Dixon, and grandson of Matthew Dixon 1783-1872. Wm.C. was Born in TN, moved to AR 1854, Married Eliza A. R. Clardy. Served as County Clerk, Ark. State Legislature, practicing attorney until 1880. In war time he attempted to hide and save county records, but they later burned in the County Court House in 1867. He was a devoted Christian, spent years reading scripture and writing Bible commentaries. His children; Augustus C., Sarah F. (Woods), Virginia W., Owen H., Jeffery, Roberta L. (Jeffery), Dora A. (Jeffery), and Willie A. (Powell). Wife Eliza died May 24, 1916. William's son Owen Herbert Dixon was the writer of the Matthew Dixon Genealogy in 1940. Owen was also a census taker in Izard county. Owen and Ruth lived in Grant's Pass, OR. William died three miles west of Mt. Olive. His quote, "What ever is worth doing, is worth doing well". May he rest in peace.
