Lester H. Healy, 96, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away in Orem, Utah on September 5, 2010. He was surrounded by family, who even after 96 years were still not ready to see him go.

Lester and his loving wife, Melpha, would have celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on December 7, 2010. They were married in Provo, Utah and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

Lester and his twin brother, Leslie were born on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1914 in Orem, Utah, to Frank and Edith Healy. There were eight siblings in all – seven brothers and one sister- Elmo, Russell, Minnie, Lester, Leslie, Roy, Glen, and Loren. Many members of this family chose to make Orem their home after they were married and had families of their own.

Last year, Lester and Leslie were honored to serve as Grand Marshals of the 2009 Orem City Summerfest Parade. This privilege was given to them as Orem City's oldest twins at the age of 95.

Lester, Leslie and Glen were the last living members of their family. With Lester's passing, all three of these brothers have passed away in just over three months. There must be a grand reunion on the other side.

Lester initially provided for his family by raising and selling fruit, and working on the construction of the Utah Power and Light Steam Plant, Deer Creek Dam and the Geneva Steel Plant. He was then one of the first men hired at Geneva. He worked there as a heavy duty equipment operator and retired after thirty-two years of service.

Lester was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and his family truly appreciate the friendship and service given by members of the Cascade 3rd Ward.

Lester loved to work in his yard and garden and he also was an avid fisherman. However, his greatest passion was his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Melpha; four children: Max (Myrleen) Healy, of Orem, Jay Healy (Vikki), of Spokane, WA, Marie (Merrill) Gappmayer, of Mapleton, and Julie (Eric) Gurr, of Orem; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren.

He was truly loved and will be greatly missed by many.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2010, at the Cascade 3rd Ward Chapel, 1051 E. 200 N., Orem. Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem and Friday morning at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services.

Interment will be held at Orem City Cemetery.
