Shelby County Indiana Marriage Records show Ralph Alexander married to Rachel V.Stewart on 9 Nov 1882, Book 12, p. 177. He 1910 Census for Moral Twp., Shelby County, Indiana shows a son Soloman C. Alexander born c. 1894. Nettie Alexander 1883-1885 who is also buried in Brandywine is probably another child who died young.

Hip Fracture Fatal To Woman

Mrs. Rachael V. Alexander
Succumbs at Hospital

Confined to the W. S. Major Hospital since suffering a fractured hip on January 8, Mrs. Rachael Viola Alexander, 85 year-old Fairland resident, died at 6:30 o'clcock Sunday evening.

Mrs. Alexander, who had spent the greater part of her life in Fairland, was born in Shelby County on March 18, 1963, the daughter of Solomon and Lydia (Reed) Steward. On November 9, 1882, she was married to Ralph Alexander whose death occurred in 1931.

A daughter also preceded her in death and she is survived by a son Clell Alexander of Edinburg, R. R. 1. Also surviving are two grandsons Orville and Otis Alexander; four great-grandchildren; one brother and two sisters, Riley Steward of Indianapolis, Mrs. Magnolia Arnold of Fairland and Mrs. Millie Whiteman of this city.

Mrs. Alexander was a member of the Brandywine Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at the Fairland Methodist Church Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. O. E. Killion officiating. Burial will be made in the Brandywine cemetery. Friends may call at the Ewing mortuary after 7:00 o'clock this evening.
