John Dewey Lockhart, 76, of Waverly, died Thursday evening in Parkview Health Care Cemetery in Parkersburg.He was born in Jackson County, a son of the late John and Alfonzie Lockhart. He attended Lockhart Methodist Church and was self employed in the roofing and sheet metal business in Columbus. He was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Columbus.He is survived by his wife, Garnet Hescht Lockhart; two sons, Russell Junior Lockhart of Clements, N.C.; and Joe Edward Lockhart of Parkersburg, one daughter, Sue LeMaster of Parkersburg; three brothers, Claude Lockhart of Belpre, Skip Lockhart of Parkersburg and Clay Lockhart of California; two sisters, Lori Cooper and Goldie Pickens, both of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by one son, two brothers and one sister.Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Earl Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Willow Island Cemetery.Friends may call at the funeral home.
