Last Friday morning the body of George H. Avery was brought here for burial from his home in California. His wife and mother accompanied the remains.
A number of friends were at the depot when the train arrived and the short service at the cemetery was attended by relatives and former neighbors of the deceased.
Rev Thomas Griffiths of Columbus conducted the service, assisted by Rev. W. C. Brewer.

George H. Avery was born in Beatrice, Nebraska, May 27, 1872 and died at his home in Los Angeles, California, April 22, 1923. When a very small child he moved with his parents to Edgar, where he resided until 1914, when he went to Los Angeles.
He was married in Edgar. He leaves his wife and two children, son Saxton of Dorris, California and daughter, Dorotheda in Los Angeles.
He was educated in the public and private schools of Edgar and the University of Nebraska.
He was engaged in business in Edgar with his brother, Clarence, about 15 years and for the past * years has been credit manager of the American Can Co. of Los Angeles.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edgar from the time he was quite young until the church disbanded.
Funeral services were conducted in Los Angeles by Rev Dr. James A. Francis, pastor of the First Baptist Church.
He was laid to rest in the Edgar Cemetery April 27, 1923.
