Mr. Eugene Montgomery Allen, Route 1, Vesuvius, died early Monday morning (Sept. 1, 1952) in the Kings Daughter's Hospital following a short illness.
Mr. Allen was born at Montebello, Aug. 16, 1895, a son of the late Andrew J. and Virginia Hamilton Allen. He was educated in public schools of Nelson County and attended the Baptist Church of Vesuvius. Mr. Allen was a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lora L. Allen, three sons, Glenn H., Harold and Eugene M., two daughters, Mrs. Louise A. Fitzgerald and Miss Verna May Allen. Six sister, Mrs. Lucille Shields, Staunton; Mrs. Estelle Snead, Covington; Mrs. Bessie Zirkle, Montebello; Mrs. Annett Ramsey, Idaho; Mrs. Mertle Kennan, Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Hattie Grant, Greenville. Two brothers, F. Lesley Allen, Avon and Luther G. Allen, Greenville. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body will remain at the Hamrich Funeral Home untill ten o'clock Wednesday morning at which time it will be taken to his residence.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Vesuvius Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. William Alford assisted by the Rev.
C. S. Bateman.
Pallbearers will be nephews of Mr. Allen. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
