John B. Norris and his second wife, Hester Ann Murray Arnold, were both born in Georgia. They came to Florida about 1875. Their marriage was the second for them both. John brought to the marriage the following children from his first marriage to Jane: Izabel; William; Betsy Ann, Martha J., and John A. Norris. Hester's contribution was a son by her first marriage, John J. Arnold, whose father, William Arnold, died in service to the CSA in 1862. Together John and Hester had the following children: Isaac "Ike"; Lucius; Belle; Francis "Frank"; Thomas Sylvester "Tom" ; Hiram "Hi" Barney and Henry Trimond "Trim" Norris. John was a Confederate soldier, serving the state of Georgia. He farmed the land he owned in Suwannee County and also operated a ferry across the river close to his homestead property, then locally referred to as "Norris Shoals." The younger three sons were born there. John lost a leg during the war and years later gangrene set in which resulted in his early demise. He was buried under a Civil War Cross, but the headstone was damaged and eventually replaced by a ggrandson, Johnnie F. Norris, a native of Columbia County. Many of John B. Norris' descendants still live in Suwannee and Columbia Counties, as well as throughout the state of Florida. Amended death date from Hester Norris' Widow Pension application of 1919.

Military: Private, Co. I, 52nd Georgia Infantry
