Bertha Pierson, age 91, of Vance, died January 16, 2010, at DCH Regional Medical Center. Services will be 11am today at Memory Chapel Funeral Home with Rev Jerry Reach officiating. Burial will be in Johntown Cemetery, with Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Prude Pierson, and her grandsons, Shane Pierson, Heath Pierson, and Richard Pierson.
Survivors include her daughters, Sarah Walker of Cottondale, Shirley Burnett(James) of Brent, LaShawn Gregg of Vance, Peggy Pratt (Jimmy) of River Bend, and Jo Ann Barger of Vance; her sons, Herbert Pierson(Jerrie) of Brookwood, Glynn Pierson(Gaynell) of Vance, Ed Pierson(Judy) of Vance, Donnie Pierson (Kathy) of Vance, and Mike Pierson(Beth) of Brookwood; her sister, Essie Whitfield of Hueytown, 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Our mother was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. We love you, and we are already missing you. Daddy has been waiting on you, and we know you are happy again.
Pallbearers will be Tony Pierson, Lawrence Gregg, David Pierson, Charlie Burnett, Benji Pierson, Billy Gregg, David Gregg, Brandon Barger, and Chris Pierson.
Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, Ann Sheppard and Johnie Martin.
