MONTEREY Funeral services for Faye E. Thrasher, 72, of Monterey, will be held Friday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Crest Lawn Cemetery in Cookeville.

Family will receive friends today, Thursday, Feb. 7, from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Thrasher died Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Standing Stone Care and Rehabilitation Center in Monterey.

She was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Overton County to the late Fletcher James and Viola Avo Lowhorn Norrod.

Ms. Thrasher retired after 32 years service as unit medical secretary with Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

A 1954 graduate of Rickman High School, she excelled both academically and athletically. She was a member of the National Beta Club and was a standout in basketball, where she was offered scholarships at major universities.

She was a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church in Hanging Limb and Green Pond Order of Eastern Star Charter 482.

Her family includes two daughters and sons-in-law, Mitzi and David M. Medley of Cookeville and Tammy and Cortes Phillips of Green Pond; a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Becky Carnahan of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Becky Carnahan of Cookeville; five grandchildren, Jason and Jeff Matthews, Amber Fairweather and Levi and Elijah Phillips; and five great-grandchildren, Olivia, Taylor, Cody, Connor and Calen.

In addition to her family, Ms. Thrasher was preceded in death by seven brothers, Jim, Ogle, Ted, Maurice, Jesse and Dempsey Norrod and Frank Swicegood; a sister, Mary Norrod; and a grandson, Cody Levi Medley.

Rev. Billy Joe Hedgecough will officiate the services.
