Viola (Lowhorn) Norrod was the daughter of Manuel Sloan and Samantha Ellen (Thurman) Lowhorn and was born on February 25, 1905 and departed this earthly life on December 11, 1992, age 87.

At the time of her passing she was survived by children Charles (Bonnie Gene) Norrod, Ted (Carlene) Norrod, Ogle (Lena Mae) Norrod, Faye Ellen (Norrod) Carnahan Thrasher, Mary Ruth Norrod, James (Glenda Sue) Norrod and daughter in-laws Evelyn (Murphy) Swicegood and Mary Ann (Gragg) Norrod. In addition, she leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by first husband John Henry Swicegood (died on February 28, 1921), second husband Fletcher James Norrod (married September 2, 1921 until his death May 1, 1978 - married 56 years), son Frank Swicegood, son Maurice Sloan Norrod and infant sons Jesse W. and William Dempsey Norrod, grandchildren Etta Carol Swicegood, Larry Ray Norrod, Kimberly Darlene (Norrod) Dugre and Teddy Joe Norrod.

Grandma is remembered for her feisty spirit and for being a survivor. Through hard times, her children were always taken care of. She was the ultimate Momma and Grandma. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Her life had many obstacles, yet through it all and in her own unique way, her caring for her family remained her focus. This perseverance through adversity is a powerful lesson for us, and it is her legacy. What a wonderful lesson she gave us, love and care for your family.
