---John D. Shumaker, 213 Grove St., Otisville, Mich., age 70, died Tuesday, March 7, 1967 at the residence. Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Laing Robinson Funeral Home, Otisville with the Rev. Densel Fuller officiating. Interment was in Flint Memorial Park cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Otisville leader dog fund. He married Ersel Gill in 1939 in Missouri.
---Mr. Shumaker was a member of Otisville Lions Club, Russelville Farm Bureau and the Richfield Grange. He was a farmer in Richfield township for 18 years retiring two years ago and moved to Otisville.
---Surviving are his wife Ersel, two sons, Joe of Flint and Jim of Davison, two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Joan) O'Brien of Flint, and Mrs. William (Sue) Ecker of Davison, 15 grandchildren, eight brothers and sisters, Mrs. Alta Langford of Flint, Foster (Dick) of Gaines, Mrs. Hazel Thompson of Missouri, Mrs. Esther Wortman of Arkansas, Roy of Missouri, Phillip (Buck) of Davison, Mrs. Edith Rose of Flint and Mrs. Leota Strom of Flint, and many nieces and nephews.

Ersel Blanche Gill married her first husband, Frederick Chown, and they had three children: Joseph "Joe" Henry, Joann Zina and James Frederick "Jim" Chown.
Ersel's three children were adopted by her second husband, John D. Shumaker.
John D. Shumaker and Ersel Blanche Gill Chown, daughter of Manly Grant and Areizina (Garnsey) Gill, were married on September 26, 1939 in Kirksville, Mo. and they had one daughter: Sue Carol Shumaker.
After John's death in 1967, Ersel married her third husband, Clare Mulholland, on September 5, 1971.
