KNOXVILLE - Alberta "Maggie" M. Hanson, 74, Knoxville, died at 3:10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
She was born Jan. 11, 1936, in Bushnell, the daughter of Andrew Ray and Bertha Faler Day. She married Leanelle "Husky" Hanson on Feb. 28, 2004, in Knoxville. He survives of Knoxville.
Surviving are one daughter, David "Briona" Burgess of Peoria, Ariz.; four sons, Michael (Aine) DeJaynes of Abingdon, Keith (Dixie) DeJaynes of Burlington, Iowa, Steve (Barbara) Burgess of Texas and Joe Burgess of Georgia; two stepsons, Cory (Andrea) Hanson of Knoxville and Terry Lee Hanson of Ohio; her mother, Bertha Burgess of Abingdon; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Vonneda (Jack) Nickels of Bartonville; and two brothers, Joe Burgess of Abingdon and Jim (Norma) Day of Galesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons and four sisters, May Louise, Patricia Ann, Gloria Jean and Roberta Langford.
She worked for the former Turnstyle of Galesburg. She then worked for K-Mart Corporation in the Moline, Berwyn, Chicago and Galesburg stores for 23 years. She retired from Grady's in Galesburg, where she prepared the salad bar.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville, with Rev. David Shreeves officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the service Monday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home and Crematory in Knoxville. Burial will be in Abingdon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society .
