KNOXVILLE - Leanelle "Husky" Hanson, 78, Knoxville, died at 3:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at home.
He was born March 22, 1936, in Galesburg, the son of Alvin and Golda Matthews Hanson. He married Linda Price in May 1959, in Knoxville, and then married Joan Nelson on Feb. 22, 1995, in Galesburg. Joan preceded him in death on July 29, 2000. He then married Alberta "Maggie" Day on Feb. 28, 2004, in Knoxville. Maggie preceded him in death on Aug. 20, 2010.
Surviving are two sons, Terry Lee Hanson of North Carolina and Corey (Andrea) Hanson of Knoxville; one granddaughter, Wendy; a special friend, Judy Olin of Knoxville; one sister, Avanelle M. Way of Knoxville; one niece, Monica (Kenneth) Tetrault of Meridian, Idaho; and one nephew, Monty (Penny) Way of Galesburg. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother-in-law, Glen Way.
He began working for the CB&Q Railroad as a diesel mechanic, then Burlington Northern, retiring in 1996 after 43 years. After his retirement he worked part-time for Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Knoxville and Oneida for 14 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Knoxville, Knoxville Masonic Pacific Lodge 66 A.F. & A.M., and Knoxville Fire Department for 49 years and was an honorary member. He enjoyed his antique cars, looking at antiques, and traveling.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville, beginning with Masonic Services conducted by the Knoxville Masonic Pacific Lodge 66. Rev. Michel D. Clark and Rev. David Shreeves will officiate the funeral services. Visitation will be 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory in Knoxville. A fellowship at the Hurd-Hendricks Fellowship Center will follow the funeral service, then at 1 p.m. procession to Abingdon Cemetery for internment. Memorials may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church of Knoxville or the First Christian Church of Knoxville. Online condolences or sympathy cards may be sent through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com.
