RING — Amo Fearmonti, 79, of Ringo, died at 9:20 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2000, at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo.

He was born May 4, 1921, at Ringo to Frank and Josephine Veltri Fearmonti.

He was a resident of this area all of his life.

He attended Girard schools and graduated from Girard High School in 1939.

Mr. Fearmonti was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945.

He worked for the Crawford County Clerk's Office for 36 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post No. 64 of Pittsburg.

He married Ruth Johnson on June 24, 1960, at Miami, Okla. She preceded him in death Feb. 13, 1998.

Survivors include one step-daughter, Lela Roberds of Fort Scott; one brother, Frank Fearmonti of Pittsburg; two sisters, Mary Grano of Arma and Dorothy Fioramonti of Bellwood, Ill.; 20 nieces and nephews, several cousins; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Tony, Jimmy, and Albert Fearmonti; one sister, Frances Pronier; one step-son, Vernon "Bud" Johnson and one step-daughter, Lovella Lightwine.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 26, at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac with the Rev. Verl Strong officiating.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery where the Benjamin Fuller American Legion Post No. 64 will provide flag-folding ceremonies.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where friends may call after noon Sunday.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E. McKay, Frontenac.
