GOERING
Carl E. Goering was born April 14, 1916, the son of Fred and Louise Goering, in Marion County, Iowa. He passed away July 23, 1997, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown.
Carl was confirmed in the Lutheran Church at an early age. He served in the Army during World War II. He was married to Helen Huntley June 12, 1947 and to this union two children were born.
Carl farmed and drove a school bus in Wayne County for many years.
He is survived by his wife Helen of Marshalltown; his two children and their families: Carla Manski and her husband Shawn and their children, Kori and Taylor, of Chandler, Ariz.; Shirley Miller and her husband David and their children, Angela, of Seattle, Wash., and Carmen, of Chariton. He is also survived by a sister, Bertha Gravitt, of Florida, plus a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, July 25, 1997, at the Fielding Funeral Home in Chariton. Pastor Paul Olson officiated. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery.
Serving as bearers were Larry Knust, Gary Goering, Richard Long, William Carroll, Doug Foote and Herman Danner. Dennis Carroll and Jim Williams served as honorary bearers.
