Henry served as a Sergeant & Gunner on B-25D #41-30182, 71st Bomber Squadron, 38th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
He resided in Hampden County, Massachusetts prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on March 12, 1943 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.
B-25D #41-30182 took off, with a crew of 5 and 4 passengers, from Saidor Airfield, Madang Province, Papua New Guinea on a courier mission to Nadzab, Morobe Province, Papua New Guinea. This B-25 was not seen nor heard from again after take off.
After the war this B-25 was found to have crashed in the Finisterre Mountains area, Morobe Province, Madang, Papua New Guinea. Multiple recover expeditions were made with the last being in 1999.
Henry was first declared "Missing In Action" on this flight and his status was changed to "Killed In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" after his remains were recovered.
