Hulbert, OK – J.D. Edwards was born November 27, 1926 in Etta, OK to Tom Edwards and Sendy L. (Catron) Edwards. J.D. was a heavy equipment operator in the oilfields. He was a veteran of the Navy serving during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He served as a frogman in the special demolition forces. J.D. was married to Betty Jo Zeek in 1979 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. J.D. departed this life on Saturday, March 13, 2010 in Tahlequah at the age of 83 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty Jo, son Thomas Edwards; sisters, Rosie Ballard and Nadean Christy; brother Delbert Edwards; stepson, Michael L. Avery and by one grandson, Michael D. Avery. Survivors include four sisters, Lorene Adams and husband Carl of Park Hill, OK, Sandra Lankford and husband Lonnie of Wyandotte, OK, Linda Earp and husband Barney of Tahlequah, OK and Brenda Fears and husband Paul of Park Hill, OK; three brothers, Harold Edwards and wife Velta of Durant, OK, Jackie Lee Edwards and wife Eloise of McPherson, KS and Larry Edwards of Oklahoma City; three step grandchildren, Jesse Fixin, Thomas Paul Avery and Shellie Wilson. Also surviving J. D. are numerous step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at the Hart Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Don Niblett will preside. Formal visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 16, 2010. Interment will be held at the Park Hill Cemetery. Funeral services have been entrusted to the care of the Hart Funeral Home.
