Harold Von Edwards a resident of Durant, Oklahoma passed away and joined his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the age of 81 years 5 months and 20 days. He was born on Tuesday, June 26, 1934 in Etta, Oklahoma to Thomas and Sendy (Catron) Edwards. Harold married Velta Rose Briggs in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 6, 1956.
Harold attended the Trinity Lighthouse Church in Sherman and the Victory Life Church in Durant. He worked as a truck driver for Merchant Motor Freight for 30 years. Harold loved Nascar, his favorite driver was Carl Edwards. Harold enjoyed fishing whenever he could get the time.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Velta of the home; daughter, Pam Farris and husband Chris of Durant, Oklahoma; son, Robbie Edwards and wife Sherri of Ft. Worth, Texas; grandchildren, Amber New and husband Bryan of Sylvania, Ohio, James Edwards and wife Daisy of Bay City, Texas, Breanna Webber and husband Christopher of Durant, Oklahoma, Christopher Farris and wife Lindsay of Sherman, Texas and Emily Edwards of Ft. Worth, Texas; brothers, Jack Edwards and wife Eloise of McPherson, Kansas and Pete Edwards of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sisters, Sandra Lankford and husband Lonnie of Park Hill, Oklahoma, Lorene Adams and husband Carl of Park Hill, Oklahoma and Sue Earp of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; great-grandsons, Elyjah, Lex, Hudson, Demitri and Sawyer.
Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Sendy Edwards; son, Harold Matthew Edwards (2004); granddaughter, Noelle Nicole New; brothers, Del and J.D. Edwards; sisters, Nadine Christie and Rosie Ballard.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 7-8:00 PM Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A chapel service will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, December 18, 2015 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel with Pastor Lee Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Whitesboro, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Carl Adams, Chris Adams, Chris Farris, Christopher Farris, James Edwards and Christopher Webber.
