Gerald David Stone, age 88, died on January 4, 1996 in Provo, Utah.

He was born October 25, 1907 in Union, Utah to David Phillip and Alice Tapp Stone. He married Grace Miller on March 28, 1928 in Herriman, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He graduated from Jordan High School. He was a member of the LDS Church and served as Sunday School superintendent, counselor in the Provo 2nd Ward bishopric and bishop of that ward for seven years; a member of the West Utah Stake High Council and stake clerk; and was a dedicated home teacher. He and his wife served a mission for the church in the Minnesota-Wisconsin and Dallas, Texas missions from 1973-1975. He was an ordinance worker in the Provo Temple for ten years.

Gerald was a salesman for Western States Wholesale Grocery Company and Utah Wholesale Grocery Company in Salt Lake and Utah counties. He operated grocery stores in Springville, Provo and Orem, Utah. He was a salesman with Kolob Realty and was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the BYU Alumni, and worked on the committee of the Provo Freedom Festival for ten years. His hobbies were gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his two sons and one daughter, Conrad (Elizabeth) Stone, Orem; Paul (Bonnie) Stone, Yorba Linda, Calif.; Juanita (Mel) Clark of Orem; daughter-in-law, Judy (Dave) Lindstrom of Orem; 13 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; sisters, Ruby Smith, Pearl Ohwiler, Fay Stradley.

He was preceded in death by his wife; and a son, David J. Stone.

The family extends their appreciation to all of the staff at East Lake Care Center for their devoted concern and compassion.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 8, 1996 at 11 a.m., at the Sharon 2nd Ward LDS Chapel, 641 So. 400 East, Orem. Friends may call at the Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 East Center, on Sunday evening 6-8 p.m. or at the ward chapel on Monday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Provo City Cemetery.
